SNL drops country star Morgan Wallen as musical guest after he’s seen partying maskless a week before show

Country singer Morgan Wallen was dropped by SNL as this week’s musical guests after videos of the singer surfaced on TikTok, showing him partying at the University of Alabama without a mask. Videos also showed the singer kissing multiple women, drinking in a crowded bar, and taking photos with fans. Wallen released an apology video, stating that he fully respects SNL’s decision and regrets his actions as he disappointed fans and himself, and is even going to take some time to work on himself privately.

People often assume all country singers have conservative views. This year has proved — yet again — that’s not the case.

Leading up to November’s election, many country music stars are pushing against the stereotype that all country musicians are conservative. Some are creating music to show their beliefs about voting, while others are voicing their opinions over social media about Black Lives Matter in the death of death of George Floyd earlier this year. Some stay quiet, possibly because they don’t want to polarize their fan base or become political.

Even in the midst of a pandemic, we can always rely on Taylor Swift to set records

Taylor Swift’s newest album Folklore is unsurprisingly breaking records, being her ninth album to hit one million records sold in the U.S. and the only album to reach this goal this year. Swift is also nominated for favorite female pop/rock artists for the American Music Awards next month and will become the first five-time winner in the history of the awards if she wins. The success of this recent album may be in part due to the circumstances in which it was created, as it was both written and recorded in isolation.
