Pentagon used taxpayer money meant for masks and swabs to make jet engine parts and body armor

Congress gave the Pentagon $1 billion to fund medical supplies for the country, but most of the money was used for other defense purposes such as jet engine parts and body armor. This shows that despite funding needed for items such as masks, much of this budget went to preexisting military budget gaps. Congress has almost no power in making sure coronavirus budgeted money is used for its intended purpose or to even track this spending.

Trump’s Supreme Court Pick May Need to Denounce Roe. Good.

Senator Josh Hawley, Republican of Missouri, is one of the many who want to know whether or not Trump’s supreme court pick supports Roe v. Wade or not. This discussion tends to divide the Republican party, leading Republican supreme court nominees to avoid giving their opinions directly. This has led republican citizens to be disappointed in previous years when judges voted against the agendas that many believed them to support.

California City Reaches $4 Million Settlement in Fatal Police Shooting

The city of Walnut Creek, California, has reached a settlement of $4 million with the family of Miles Davis, who was fatally shot last year while he was having a mental health crisis. Hall was shot after running towards police with a crow bar, ignoring commands to stop, and later died from his injuries. The family’s lawyer stated that the police’s inability or unwillingness to deescalate situations leads to the unjust death of those with mental illnesses, and Hall’s family began a foundation to see that this is changed.
