How the Internet Viewed the Vice-Presidential Debate

Wednesday night’s vice-presidential debate consisted of interruptions, unanswered questions, and most importantly (as the internet believes), a fly landed on Vice President Mike Pence’s head for over two minutes. Of course this led to a flurry of memes across numerous social media platforms, and the Biden campaign has even begun to sell branded flyswatters to support their campaign. Many also took to social media to commend Kamala Harris for stating that she was speaking, even as Pence tried to speak over her.

A wave of polls paints a dire picture for Trump

Trump is behind Biden in election surveys, and the numbers are very similar to the margins from the 2016 election. However, this election he has trailed more consistently, by bigger margins, and has to overcome hardened views of his time in office. Also, there is not a large number of Republicans who are not participating in these surveys to effect their accuracy.

Facebook to ban political ads from election night until further notice

Facebook announced that they are banning political ads as soon as the polls close on election day. This comes as a surprise, as Facebook has made comments in the past that they are not in charge of policing political ads, and have typically taken a hands-off approach. While this will likely shift both party’s campaigns, many believe that Facebook is attempting to avoid mistakes they made in the 2016 election and the continued spread of misinformation through their platform.
